Aussie spots recognised in Condé Nast’s Best Places to Go in 2026

Condé Nast has revealed its Best Places to Go in 2026, and several Australian destinations make the list.

This year’s selection highlights both major cities and the country’s most recognised natural landscapes, making trip planning in 2026 feel exciting and fresh.

Margaret River in Western Australia stands out with its coastline, vineyards and long coastal walks.

Travellers can enjoy seaside tastings with Pair’d, visit Vasse Felix and watch the Margaret River Pro surfing event.

The Cape to Cape Track stretches 130 kilometres along headlands and beaches, supporting multi-day hiking across the region.

Uluru in the Northern Territory also receives strong recognition.

This marks the 40th anniversary of the handback of the land to the Aṉangu in 2026.

The new Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk begins in April and offers guided cultural journeys and select overnight stays in the national park.

Condé Nast also highlights a shift toward dynamic cities.

Adelaide, Darwin and Perth are known for their food culture, creative calendar and easy access to nature.

Parramatta is included on the list due to Powerhouse Parramatta, which opens in October 2026 and will be Australia’s largest museum.

A riverside restaurant, driven by Kylie Kwong, along with QT and InterContinental hotels, helps shape Parramatta into a short-break destination rather than a day trip.

Port Stephens remains a popular coastal escape two hours north of Sydney.

Boutique stays continue to increase, including Marina Resort with ocean views. Newcastle Art Gallery reopens in February 2026, and international flights now land at Newcastle Airport, which improves access for travellers.

King Island in Tasmania completes the Oceania inclusions.

Kittawa Lodge expanded its accommodation in early 2025, and Ocean Dunes golf course continues to grow with a clubhouse, restaurant and hotel rooms due late next year.

This remote and rugged island evolves in a considered way for future visitors.
