Sydney Recognised as One of the World’s Most Desirable Cities
Sydney takes out a Bronze win in the World’s Most Desirable City category at the 2025 Wanderlust Reader Travel Awards.
The result highlights the city’s mix of coastal scenery and easy outdoor living, two factors that consistently draw travellers.

The awards are run by one of the United Kingdom’s longest-standing travel magazines and are entirely voted for by readers.
More than 200,000 people took part this year, submitting 4.8 million votes across categories covering cities, regions, adventure travel, culture, nature, and emerging destinations.
Sydney earns praise for its coastline, beaches and outdoor lifestyle.
Australia also receives Gold in the Most Desirable Destination for Adventure, recognised for its wild landscapes and open-air experiences.

The ceremony takes place at the National Gallery in London and brings together leaders from destinations, airlines and tour operators.
The event celebrates 22 categories and reflects what modern travellers value most.
Wins like these help strengthen New South Wales’ position in the UK market.
The state welcomed 334,000 visitors from the United Kingdom in the year ending June 2025, with travellers spending more than $844 million during their stays.
Recognition at this level continues to boost interest in NSW as a destination.
