Australian Father’s Day falls on Sunday 6 September this year, and a handful of attractions around the country are running genuine deals for dad rather than just a marketing email.
Some only run on the day itself, others stretch across the following week, so it’s worth checking the dates against your own plans before you count on one.
✅ SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, Madame Tussauds Sydney and Sydney Tower Eye (Sydney) – dad’s ticket is $1 when booked online with a full-priced adult or child ticket.
Valid for visits from Sunday 6 to Thursday 10 September, booked at least a day ahead, closing 11:59pm Wednesday 9 September.
✅ SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium (Melbourne) – the same $1 dad ticket, the same 6 to 10 September window.
✅ SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast Aquarium (Sunshine Coast, QLD) – the same $1 deal, the same 6 to 10 September window.
✅ Australian National Maritime Museum (Sydney) – free entry for dad with a paying visitor, Sunday 6 September only, no online booking needed.
✅ Gumbuya World (Melbourne) – free theme park entry for dad with a paying Junior, Senior or General ticket, Sunday 6 September only, booked online.
✅ MANIAX Axe Throwing (Sydney, Newcastle, Canberra, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Perth) – every dad throws for free on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September.
✅ Perth Zoo (Perth) – free entry for all dads, Sunday 6 September, no ticket needed at the main entrance.
✅ Hunter Valley Wildlife Park (Hunter Valley, NSW) – free entry for dad with a paying guest, plus a complimentary BBQ breakfast, Sunday 6 September from 9am to 4pm.
✅ LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne (Melbourne) – the same $1 dad ticket as the Merlin attractions above, the same 6 to 10 September window.
✅ Little Builders, Docklands (Melbourne) – free entry for one dad with a paying child, Sunday 6 September only, with a Father’s Day card-making activity included.
✅ AQWA, The Aquarium of Western Australia (Perth) – dad goes free when the family books a Family Behind the Scenes Pass on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday in September using the code DADSDAY, and there’s a free Father’s Day photobooth on Sunday 6 September from 9am to 3pm.
✅ Event Cinemas (nationwide) – retro screenings of Terminator 2, Cars and Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 September, $10 for Cinebuzz members or $12 otherwise.
Every one of these has its own fine print, so it’s worth reading the venue’s own terms before turning up expecting a free ticket.
